So after a very lengthy & thorough stripdown, clean & rebuild in my workshop, here’s Nick’s beautiful Peugeot out on its first test ride.

As agreed I managed to keep it as original as possible – apart from upgrading the saddle to an ’80s Brooks the only new parts are the tyres & tubes, bar tape, and all the cabling. I had a Simplex front derailleur in stock that was ideal for this (as it was supplied without one). The bearings have fully serviced and it was lovely to see the old freewheel, chain and other parts come up gleaming with the application of my finest Elbow Grease.

The bike is beautiful to ride now, the brakes have surprising power and it sure turned a few heads around Chorlton this morning! Nick, I hope you have a lot of fun on this out in the rolling Cheshire countryside…
