Notes: this Vitus had 126mm rear spacing on the frame (to suit 6/7 speed) and is not considered suitable for cold-setting, so in order to fit a wider 8/9/10 speed cassette – in this case a stunning NOS 16 hole Dura-Ace FH-7700 – the hub had to be spaced down to fit the frame, with the rim built onto the hub and dished to suit. The width of the material on the Vitus drop-outs is a big help here. The front hub remained stock to the front wheel. Note also the SRAM Rocket trigger shifter is Shimano 2:1 compatible. An insanely fast flat bar urban conversion for this rare cyclocross spec French beauty, very similar to the race-proven 979 but with greater tyre clearance and cantilever brake bosses.
