These conversions are one of the classic “domino effects” of the bike mechanic’s world in that they often involve changing more than just the handlebars.  You may also need an appropriate stem (either quill or ahead type) plus alternative shifters and brake levers to suit the new position – these must also be compatible with your bike’s drivetrain & braking system.  Then the set-up may need new cables – and most definitely some fine-tuning – before new handlebar tape or grips are carefully fitted to finish the job.
