Record breaking Peugeot restoration… part 4

Not been giving the Mick Nash Peugeot much attention recently as the frame and forks are away being resprayed (and we’ve been refurbishing the workshop itself) but today we found the opportunity to make a start on the wheelset which we stripped down a few weeks ago…

The hubs are original to the bike and have been completely restored… check the close-up photo of the rear cones for a demonstration of just how smooth Campy hubs are!  The rims are period correct Mavic Module-E clinchers from a friend on the Retrobike forum which we’ve since polished up to replace the original tubular Mavic Monthlery Route rims – a good call in terms of convenience and identical in appearance to the sprints.  We’ll be using New Old Stock IRC Road Tour 700x28c gumwall tyres on the wheels which are being rebuilt over the next few days using a mixture of shiny new Sapim Race DB and Leader PG spokes.  New tubes and rim tape will of course complete the wheelset…
