Presenting a vintage British ladies town bike custom/restoration project I’ve been working on for a while. Suitable for taller female riders (5’6″ and above) due to its larger frame size, this 1989 Raleigh Prima has had a very comprehensive cosmetic & technical makeover and is fitted with several new/modern components – to improve performance without sacrificing its all-important vintage style & hard-earned patina!

Compared to its original factory build this Raleigh is over 2.5kg lighter and has crisper gear-shifting & better brakes, plus it’s more puncture resistant & loads more visible in the dark thanks to its new reflective Schwalbe tyres. The frame size lends itself to a more upright riding position so I’ve treated the bike to a gleaming chromed Dutch-style vintage handlebar & stem which compliments the new lightweight mudguards, plus vintage kickstand and (loud) retro bell!

This classic works better than new!  A joy to behold and an absolute gem to ride, my custom Prima is a unique & genuine vintage bike you can use everyday – for less than the price of a (not vintage or handmade or made in Britain) Bobbin.
