1990s Chas Roberts Audax

Fred’s stunning Chas Roberts after some DRC workshop time.  His daily rider, the bike’s frame is built from lugged Columbus SLX tubing and features the maker’s very distinctive extended head tube for long distance comfort.  It runs a mix of Campagnolo 9 speed drivetrain, brakes and headset.  Manchester’s Will’s Wheels recently built new Mavic Open Pro rims onto the original Centaur hubs in double-quick time, and the owner added a modern Zipp Service Course bar/stem and Cinelli cork tape.  We did the service, adding a new bottom bracket, chain, brake pads and cabling in an enjoyable process of bringing the well maintained bike’s mechanical condition up from pretty good to properly sorted…
