SOLD: 1989 Peugeot Triathlon 531C

Dead Rats Cycles is very proud to present this lovely little French late-’80s thoroughbred for sale after a complete stripdown & rebuild in my workshop. Handbuilt in France in the twilight of the steel era, the Triathlon is in superb working order, almost completely original, fully tuned and ready for some hard riding!  Its stunning metallic black & pink Reynolds 531 Competition lugged steel frame is extremely light and strong and features elegant fastback seatstays, accurate vertical dropouts, recessed brake mounting and a lovely sloped unicrown steel fork.

Features the classic, sought-after blue/grey anodized Shimano 105 groupset (featuring smooth-shifting 14 speed SIS-Uniglide-Biopace transmission and powerful quick-release SLR aero brakes – all of which show very little wear) from the Japanese giant’s golden era.  The hubs are in beautiful condition, the crank and steering bearings have been completely overhauled and the wheels have been re-tensioned and trued.

French-made components & finishing kit includes strong & lightweight black anodized Mavic rims, the beautiful fluted Simplex seatpost & matching binder and the elegant Atax handlebar & stem combo.  New cables and new bar tape adds to the bike’s performance & comfort.  Weighing in at a fraction over 20lb, this gorgeous little handbuilt machine will absolutely fly in the hands of the right rider (a smaller male, lady or teen around 5’2” to 5’6”) and turn heads everywhere it goes.  It even comes complete with its original Zefal frame pump!
