Coronavirus update 28 March

Given the recent escalation of the Coronavirus I have given a lot of thought as to how best to deal with the situation.

Bikes shops have been deemed essential and are exempt from forced closure, so I am still here fixing bikes but with some significant changes to the way the shop runs.

My hours are reduced by about 50% due to lack of childcare, so the workshop is now strictly appointment only until further notice.  This is to prevent a lot of people being inside the shop at one time, it is a small space with no staff other than myself.  Sorry for any disappointment if you turn up and the shutters are down, or you are turned away.

When your appointment time comes, you’ll find the front door will be locked.  Please park your bike in my bike rack outside and I will come out to you.  I have a perimeter marked so we can observe social distancing.  I’ll get back to you ASAP with a quote and likely turnaround once I have checked it over inside.  On collection from the shop I will bring the bike out to you.  Card payments only, no cash.  Or Bank Transfer in advance on request.  The card reader, shop surfaces and all bikes are now disinfected before and after every use.

If you are unable to attend your appointment please let me know, if I cannot be there for your appointment I will contact you.  I am concentrating on repairs and servicing – key workers will be prioritised – rather than restorations and builds at the moment.  I still have bikes for sale, please make an appointment to view them. I am unable to collect or deliver your bike.

Should I or my family show symptoms I will not hesitate to shut up shop.  Please do not visit the shop if you are self-isolating!

Surreal but necessary measures that I hope you understand are intended to protect us all.

Stay safe everyone.

Love,

Alex

  1. I commend Alex for all that he is doing to keep the shop open whilst safeguarding risk for everyone. Stay safe, well and strong. The bike I purchased from the shop is proving invaluable and a necessary way to reduce stress in these worrying times x Victoria x
