Darren’s awesome OG MF after a rebuild. A fan of the Muddy Fox brand since BITD, Darren brought this neon gate – a recent addition to his large vintage MF fleet – to DRC in very tired condition (see photo at the bottom of this page). Together we hatched a plan to lightly repurpose the bike into more of a gravel cruiser, with a leisurely C2C planned as its maiden adventure in the near future. While it carries a lot of patina, the frame is now super clean. Alongside fast rolling Schwalbe Big Ben tyres and a wider Muddy Fox saddle, the bike benefits from a new Shimano cassette, SRAM chain, FSA bottom bracket and retro SE Bikes bear trap pedals. Upgraded flat bars are mounted in a more upright vintage ITM stem, while new Shimano brake levers and shifters (with all new cabling) make for a much more ergonomic control area. The rest (wheels, derailleurs, chainset, brakes, seatpost etc) were all restored. I must say the Fox bombs along smoothly now, it feels comfortable and capable and really nice to ride.
